BATTLE FLAG EXHIBITS

The Michigan State Capitol Battle Flag collection consists of three distinct collections, battle flags carried by Michigan soldiers in the American Civil War, The Spanish American War and World War I.

Flag Storage
The Michigan Capitol Battle Flag Collection now resides in a specially constructed and fully equipped archival storage unit at the Michigan Historical Center in Lansing, Michigan. In this archival storage unit, the temperature, humidity and lighting are kept at an optimum level ensuring the long-term preservation of the collection.

This flag was carried by the Eighth Michigan Volunteer Infantry Regiment, known as the "Wandering Regiment" for their long marches and hard battles in seven states.
