![]() Buses may park for free in designated bus parking on Walnut Street or the State Historical Museum. Tours coming from the Michigan Historical Museum or the Hall of Justice may transport guests to the Capitol by bus and use the parking on Walnut street. Bus guests should then walk north to Ottawa street, make a right and enter Heritage Hall. Please be advised that between June 6-October, 2022 the main expressway (I-496) through downtown Lansing will be closed to all traffic-both east and westbound. Clearly marked, brief detours on parallel roads will need to be made and this may increase travel time to and from the Capitol. Please adjust your travel time accordingly. Buses park for free at the Michigan Historical Center in the south parking lot between Washtenaw, Butler, Kalamazoo and Sycamore Streets. ![]() Metered parking for cars, trucks, and vans is located on the streets surrounding the Capitol. Various meters allow between one and four hours of parking. Parking fees are paid at the entry/exit gate by credit card only. On weekends, free parking is available at meters on any city street, or at the Michigan Historical Center in the south parking lot between Washtenaw, Butler, Kalamazoo, and Sycamore Streets.
