Our Commitment to Accessibility
Join us at the Michigan State Capitol, where inclusivity and accessibility are at the heart of what we do. Discover our rich history, witness democracy in action, and be a part of our vibrant legislative process.
The goal of the Michigan State Capitol Commission and Capitol staff is to ensure that every person visiting the Michigan State Capitol is treated with respect. Everyone should be able to enjoy a tour, observe the legislature, and participate in the legislative process.
The Michigan State Capitol Commission and Capitol staff are committed to complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We believe that individuals with disabilities should not be excluded from any program, service, or activity offered by the Legislature.
Capitol tours are entirely elevator accessible, and visitors may borrow a wheelchair while they are here.
Family bathrooms are located in Heritage Hall and in the west hallway of the ground floor of the Capitol.
A Braille version of our self-guided book is available upon request and American Sign Language interpreters can be scheduled in advance for groups of 10 or more.
Sensory friendly kits, colorblind glasses, and hands-on 3D models of the Capitol are available for use at the Heritage Hall information desk.
