Tour Schedule

Guided tours of the Capitol are provided Monday through Friday and begin at the top of every hour, with the first tour beginning at 9:00am and the final at 4:00pm. Tours should be scheduled in advance for groups of between 10 and 45 people. Groups of less than 10 people do not need to schedule a tour but are recommended to call in advance to check tour availability.

Security

No weapons are permitted within the Capitol building. All individuals entering the Capitol building are subject to the policies and procedures of the Michigan State Capitol Commission. All individuals, objects, and/or personal effects entering the Capitol building are subject to inspection, screening, and/or search.

Building Hours

The Michigan Capitol is open to visitors year-round, Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm. The Capitol is closed on Michigan’s state holidays except for Election Day.

Street Parking

Street parking is available on the streets surrounding the Capitol, with the closest parking near the entrances on Capitol Avenue and Ottawa Street.

Pay at electronic pay stations with a card, coins, or through the Passport Parking App. You will need your license plate number and parking zone number.

Guided Tours

Guided tours are available between 9:00 and 4:00. Groups of 10 or more people must schedule a tour in advance. Groups of less than 10 may join with scheduled groups. Please call to confirm tour times or schedule a tour.

Guided tours start in our visitors center, Heritage Hall, at 323 Ottawa St. Lansing, Michigan. Guided tours are free of charge, and last about an hour.

Self-Guided Tour Options

Self-guided Tour booklets are available at the information desks in Heritage Hall and in the Capitol. These booklets are available in English, Español (Spanish), Français (French), Deutsch (German), Pусский (Russian), 日本語  (Japanese), 中文 (Chinese/Mandarin), and العربية (Arabic).
