Plan an Event

Every year thousands of Michiganders participate in events at the Capitol including advocacy days, exhibits, and rallies. Below, you can find our quick and easy application process that will assist you in reserving your desired space(s).

Review the Capitol Procedures

Review the Capitol Procedures to make sure your group is prepared for its day at the Capitol. They include critical information as well as a description of the items that are prohibited inside and outside of the building.

Please remember, while activities planned at the Capitol are open to the public, any food or meals associated with these events are by invitation only.

Apply to Reserve Time & Space

Apply using the following form to reserve space for your targeted date and time. Review the Rental Equipment & Labor Rates.

Event Spaces

With various event spaces, The Capitol can accommodate a range of small to large events!

Heritage Hall Atrium

The Atrium is the ideal space for luncheons and small programs featuring speakers. Capacity for the Atrium is 200 people.

Heritage Hall State Rooms

The State Rooms can be one large space or split into two spaces for your meeting or educational day. Capacities vary.

East & West Lawns

The lawns serve as a spaces for your large gathering, rally, or advocacy day.

Parking

Street Parking

Street parking is available on the streets surrounding the Capitol, with the closest parking near the entrances on Capitol Avenue and Ottawa Street.

Passport Parking App

Pay at electronic pay stations with a card, coins, or through the Passport Parking App. You will need your license plate number and parking zone number.

Security at the Capitol

No weapons are permitted within the Capitol building. All individuals entering the Capitol building are subject to the policies and procedures of the Michigan State Capitol Commission. All individuals, objects, and/or personal effects entering the Capitol building are subject to inspection, screening, and/or search.

Accessibility at the Capitol

The goal of the Michigan State Capitol Commission and Capitol staff is to ensure that every person visiting the Michigan State Capitol is treated with respect. Everyone should be able to enjoy a tour, observe the legislature, and participate in the legislative process.
