An Overview of Michigan’s Three Branches of Government and the Legislative Process


Explore the purpose of state government and how representation works while learning the basics of the democratic process. In this 30-minute program designed for elementary students, participants are introduced to the three branches of Michigan’s government—what each branch does, how they work together, and why they matter. Students will also discover how ideas become laws, how laws are interpreted and challenged, and learn about current leaders, including the Governor.
