Visiting the fully restored Capitol, it can be easy to take for granted just how beautiful the building is today and assume that it has always looked this way. History, though, tell us a different story. Working through some growing pains, the mid-20th century saw major modifications made to the Capitol in the name of modernization and practicality. These alterations resulted in a maze of hazardous overfloors, or half-floors, throughout the building.
